Sponsored by the Center for Couple and Family Studies
Leaders: Nancy Lithgow, MSW and Barbara Wayne, PhD
A consultation/seminar group is being offered by the Center for Couple and Family Studies, beginning September 27, 2019, through May 10, 2019. The group will meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month (except December 27th) from 1-2:30 PM.
At 5225 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Suite 310, Washington, DC, Barbara Wayne’s office.
Credit hours and Fees
Cost for the group will be $1540.00
Nancy Lithgow, MSW and Barbara Wayne, PhD will co-lead the group. The group will build on the writings of Tavistock clinicians along with other noted practitioners who struggle to bring curiosity and compassion to the challenging questions all of us face when working with couples and families.
Our goal in this group is to help clinicians deepen their understanding of the couple’s dynamics and to propose accessible means of helping the couple share empathy and develop ways to function together productively and creatively. Participants will have the opportunity to present a case to the group on a rotating basis.
In this group we will work together to understand the struggles of both the couple and the therapist treating them. All will contribute to other members’ work as well as receiving consultation on their own cases. Attention to cultural and contextual matters relevant to the clinical work will be integrated.
The group is designed for all mental health practitioners who are currently seeing couples.
Cancellations and Refunds
Refunds will be made for cancellations received at the School office in writing at least 10 days before the seminar date and are subject to a non-refundable administrative fee of $50.
