Affect Rescripting Therapy (A.R.T.): A Neuroaffective & Cognitive-Behavioral Approach, Workshop Series, Four Sessions

Workshop Sessions

  • Session 1: Neuroaffect theory
  • Session 2: Script theory (a) the scene [cognition, emotion, behavior] (b) scripts
  • Session 3: Principles, clinical strategies and techniques
  • Session 4: Clinical application [case illustrations] to anxiety and mood disorders: functioning and integration

Main Objectives

  1. Understand and identify the innate neural affects that underlie cognitions, emotions and behaviors.
  2. Learn how the integration of brain/body/mind/behavior is analogically utilized in the integration of psychotherapy methods.
  3. Learn how to strategically apply various focused techniques for improved functioning and psychoaffective dynamic talking therapy for integration and well being.

PRESENTER

Robert Kayton, Ph.D. has been trained in a wide range of therapeutic approaches, most notably psychoanalysis and cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition, for the past 15 years he has been studying Silvan S. Tomkins Affect-Script Theory. Using this model he has developed an integrated treatment approach for the regulation and integration of affect. He has given many presentations to professional groups, including two for the Washington School of Psychiatry that was very well received. Recently he has completed a training course, has written several articles for his web site (www.robertkayton.com), and is writing a book.
